October 1, 2025 marked the beginning of the longest government shut down in US history: 43 days. Local food banks reported surges in need as federal workers missed paychecks and low-income families faced potential delays in benefit distribution.
To support neighbors in need, members of the World Mission Society Church of God coordinated multiple food drive efforts, including,
1. Setting up food donation boxes at many of their workplaces for 1 week
2. Holding 2 food drives simultaneously on Sunday November 23, 2025 at both Sweis Foods and CashSaver
All food items were delivered to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, where they were received by the Food Banks CEO, Stacy Dykstra.
