WMSCOG | ASEZ WAO Green Earth Cleanup at Bixby Park – Long Beach, CA
10 de vizionări CHURCH OF GOD USAOn Sunday, August 31, 2025, ASEZ WAO, an international volunteer service group that consists of young adult workers from the World Mission Society Church of God, partnered with the office Long Beach Councilwoman Cindy Allen to conduct the 8,914th Worldwide Cleanup Campaign at Bixby Park.
As one of the key green spaces in a city that has a population of nearly half a million, the park is frequently visited and heavily used. As such, trash and debris accumulated all over the park and surrounding streets and neighborhoods. Since Bixby Park and the adjacent beach will be the site of various events during the upcoming 2028 Summer Olympics, the City of Long Beach identified the park as an important project site for litter abatement, beautification, and volunteer involvement.
Residents deeply appreciated the efforts of the ASEZ WAO volunteers. Councilwoman Allen emphasized that it was one of the biggest cleanups the area had ever seen. She also presented ASEZ WAO and the World Mission Society Church of God with a certificate of recognition during her commencement address to the volunteers.
The volunteers were comprised of young adult workers from local churches in Orange County, Cerritos, Torrance, and Temecula. Some came from even as far Arizona, Illinois, and Wisconsin to participate. They worked together for the united purpose of providing a cleaner, safer, and happier environment for the families and residents who enjoy the park regularly. Long Beach resident and Deputy Chief of Police Randy Allen also joined the cleanup and repeatedly expressed his appreciation to the volunteers.
By the end of the event, hundreds of bags of trash were collected and the aesthetics of the park was noticeably improved. ASEZ WAO will continue partnering with local communities to ensure its Green Earth initiatives are fully realized all over the world.
