On Monday, February 9, 2026, the ASEZ WAO (Save the Earth from A to Z, We Are One Family) volunteer group, from the World Mission Society Church of God, hosted an environmental seminar followed by an immersive cultural experience called "Discover Korea." The event, held in the City Hall Conference Center, attracted over 60 city employees, eager to learn about Korean culture. The City of Temecula's Employee Wellness Program offered a unique opportunity for city employees to explore Korean culture without leaving City Hall.
The "Discover Korea" event was a vibrant celebration of Korean traditions, hosted by an Overseas Cultural Experience Group from the International Workers Bible Academy that flew all the way from Korea. Attendees were treated to a variety of traditional foods, with many praising the delicious kimchi and dalgona coffee. The cultural immersion continued with traditional games and a calligraphy station. A popular attraction was the photo booth, where employees could try on colorful hanbok, traditional Korean attire, and capture the moment with photos.
In addition to the cultural festivities, the event also included an Environmental Seminar. City employees had the opportunity to learn more about ASEZ WAO and their local volunteer initiatives in the City of Temecula, which included an Emergency Preparedness Forum and a cleanup of Harveston Lake Park. Attendees expressed pleasant surprise at the frequency of ASEZ WAO's volunteer activities and were interested in learning more about the organization.
The event was honored by the presence of several distinguished guests, including John Crater, Division Fire Chief for CAL FIRE, Aaron Adams, City Manager of the City of Temecula, who was recently recognized by the California City Management Foundation (CCMF) as the 2026 City Manager of the Year, Ron Moreno, City Engineer/Director of Public Works, and Michael Heslin, Director of Information Technology and Support Services.
In a gesture of appreciation, Certificates of Welcome were presented to four visiting members of ASEZ WAO from Korea to recognize their contributions to the event and to warmly welcome them.
The "Discover Korea" event was a resounding success, fostering cultural understanding and community engagement among City of Temecula employees. It served as a wonderful example, encouraging exploration and discovery of new cultures and experiences. The World Mission Society Church of God continues to serve their workplaces and communities to share God’s love through volunteer service.
