ASEZ, Carries Out “Green Campus” Cleanup at Durban University of Technology
Church of God University Student Volunteers Clean the Environment by Collecting 1200 kg of Litter
On January 25, ASEZ, the university student volunteer group of the World Mission Society Church of God, carried out a “Green Campus” cleanup, contributing to the creation of a pleasant educational environment. The students collected plastic waste and other litter along a 1.5 km section in and around the City Campus of Durban University of Technology in eThekwini, KwaZulu-Natal Province. “Green Campus” is ASEZ’s environmental cleanup initiative that focuses on cleaning university campuses and their surrounding areas.
An ASEZ representative explained, “University students have united their hearts with the purpose of practicing environmental protection starting from the university campus, where learning and daily life take place together, so that we can build a sustainable global environment and happiness for humanity.” The representative added, “With the ‘heart of a mother’ who loves her family, we will continue to carry out diverse activities for the development of local communities and the well-being of the earth.”
The ASEZ activity began at 10 a.m. in a lively atmosphere. About 25 people, including ASEZ members and local citizens wearing blue and lime-colored vests, collected trash that polluted the campus at the West Str and Market Rd Junction for two hours, collecting 1200 kg of litter such as discarded plastic cups and straws, snack wrappers, food packaging, cigarette butts, beverage cans, Styrofoam, glass bottles and more.
