"Restoring the Oklahoma River: ASEZ Leads Earth Recovery Day"
In celebration of Earth Recovery Day, the ASEZ branch in Oklahoma City organized a cleanup along the banks of the Oklahoma River at Riversport OKC on August 14, 2024. The event was in partnership with Oklahoma City Public Works and Riversport OKC, with around 60 volunteers in attendance. This initiative contributed to restoring the local ecosystem and raising awareness of environmental protection among the community.
The volunteers cleaned debris and waste along the banks of the Oklahoma River, helping to clean the local ecosystem. Through this event, ASEZ collected dozens of trash bags, totaling 521 pounds of waste.
Many public officials supported the event, including Oklahoma City Congresswoman Ajay Pittman, Councilmember Nikki Nice, United Nations Association of Oklahoma City President and Vice President Luidgi del Cid and Melody Derksen, all of whom signed in support of ASEZ’s Earth Recovery Project.
Through this Earth Recovery Day, ASEZ demonstrated that when university students unite for a common cause, the results can be both inspiring and impactful. ASEZ’s activities are gaining global attention, and more people are expected to join their future efforts to protect the environment.
