ASEZ, the university student volunteer group of the World Mission Society Church of God, gathered on 16 October 2025 at Nelson Mandela University Nature Reserve in Port Elizabeth to remove invasive trees that threaten the local ecosystem. The Port Jackson Willow, imported from Australia, grows at an extremely fast rate and disrupts the ecological balance within the Nelson Mandela University Nature Reserve by hindering the growth of native trees. To protect the environment of their own campus nature reserve, the students cut down the invasive trees and applied herbicide to prevent their regrowth. Although the work was physically demanding, the students cooperated with one mind, helping one another and creating meaningful change in the local community. This activity is part of ASEZ’s AGC (ASEZ Green Carbon) Movement, which promotes sustainable practices for climate change response and ecosystem restoration. Through this volunteer activity, ASEZ students came to realize how important and rewarding the role of younger generations is in preserving the environment. Families came together at the World Mission Society Church of God for a special Bible seminar filled with warmth and fellowship. Guests were welcomed with high tea style snacks, creating a cosy atmosphere where parents and children could relax, connect, and enjoy meaningful conversations. The seminar introduced inspiring biblical topics about the Heavenly Family, alongside practical guidance for strengthening bonds within our own households. With heartfelt activities for children and uplifting messages for adults, everyone experienced joy, gratitude, and deeper appreciation for family love. Torrance, CA, July 27, 2025 – An early rise, hot sun and hard work could not stop the young adult members of the Church of God from serving with vibrant energy. Giving up their free time, dedicated to being the salt and light of the earth, they gathered at Columbia Park Community Gardens in Torrance to give the plots new life. The group was composed of members of the Church of God’s ASEZ WAO, young adult members who work and spend their days off doing various volunteer services. They came from Torrance, Cerritos, Temecula, and Orange County church locations, united with joy. Members focused their efforts on Torrance’s only community garden, as the plots at Columbia Park offer residents a unique chance to grow their own fresh produce. Due to a staff shortage, several sections had fallen into neglect, allowing weeds to spread and undermine both the beauty and productivity of the space, even threatening the neighboring plots. Volunteers worked diligently to remove invasive growth, transforming the area into a place once again ready to serve the community! The cooperative effort came about after members reached out to local leaders, asking what specific areas needed help. Torrance Councilmember Asam Sheikh, who presented an award, shared encouraging and thankful words. Recalling the group’s ready enthusiasm to assist in the project, he stated, “I was stunned, surprised, and grateful. They’re really on a mission to help the community.” Local members juggle a full-time job and frequent overtime, but they still demonstrated the importance of collective care. “ The Church of God’s mindset of serving is drawn from faith in the Spirit and the Bride, God the Father and God the Mother, who have served mankind with sacrificial love.
