The city of refuge in the Old Testament is a temporary place of refuge for those who killed people accidentally; it is a shadow revealing what sins mankind committed in heaven.
Only through the death of the high priest in the city of refuge, could sinners return to their hometown in the Old Testament times; this shows us how we can be forgiven of our sins.
The High Priest of the Earth the City of Refuge: Jesus Christ
Jesus came to the earth as the high priest in the order of Melchizedek; he established the Passover of the new covenant and the regulation of tithe through his sacrifice on the cross. In this way, the glorious way to return to heaven from this earth, the city of refuge, has been opened.
