Many churches around the world insist that the Sabbath day has been abolished because it is part of the law of the Old Testament.
Yet as God’s people, we are called to keep all of the Ten Commandments—from the first commandment to the tenth, there is not a single one we can afford to neglect. No one can rightly say, “Nine of the Ten Commandments must be kept, but the fourth commandment does not need to be observed.”
Even churches that do not keep the Sabbath day readily affirm the importance of the Ten Commandments.
Therefore, the claim that “the Sabbath day need not be observed because it was abolished as part of the Old Testament law” is both contradictory and false. Even today, we should keep the Sabbath day holy, just as the fourth commandment requires.
