Solomon did everything he wanted, but in the end, he said, “Everything is meaningless!” And as even the great Alexander the Great acknowledged, when death comes, one returns empty-handed. Hence, we should not be satisfied with the momentary joys and pleasures of this earth, but live for the eternal kingdom of heaven, fearing God and keeping His commandments. The wise way to live is to live for the happiness that we will enjoy forever in the kingdom of heaven.
Mankind must make choices that allow us to live faithfully on this earth and receive God’s blessing in heaven. The members of the Church of God keep the Sabbath day and seven annual festivals and glorify God through good deeds in preparation for the kingdom of heaven and eternal life.
[A]nd the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. “Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Everything is meaningless!” . . . Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. Ecclesiastes 12:7–8, 13
