By God’s power, the Israelites were released from the 430-year slavery in Egypt, and headed toward Canaan. However, the Israelites forgot the grace of God who set them free.
“Why have you brought us up out of Egypt into this desert?”
The people, who complained, were bitten by venomous snakes and died (Nu 21:6).
“The LORD said to Moses, ‘Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live’ ” Nu 21:8
Then, was it the bronze snake that saved them?
No. God saved them by His words, “Anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.” Nevertheless, the Israelites revered the bronze snake for hundreds of years, thinking that it had mysterious power.
When King Hezekiah broke the bronze snake into pieces, God complimented him, and made him successful in whatever he undertook (2 Ki 18:3–7).
Why did God compliment Hezekiah who broke the bronze snake into pieces? It is because he who worships an idol will be destroyed.
The history of worshiping the bronze snake was a prophecy that churches would set up the cross and be destroyed.
“Just as Moses lifted up the (bronze) snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up…” Jn 3:14–15
It was not the cross that saved us, but Jesus (1 Pe 1:18–19). Today, however, churches revere the cross, just as the Israelites revered the bronze snake. The cross is nothing but a piece of wood, just like the bronze snake is nothing but a piece of bronze (Ac 5:30). The churches, which set up the cross, will be destroyed (Dt 27:15).
“Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues”Rev 18:4
Following the teachings of the Second Coming Christ Ahnsahnghong, the Church of God is making known to all people that the bronze snake incident is a prophecy of the cross reverence. Please come to the Church of God, which is Zion where God the Mother, the Savior in the Age of the Holy Spirit, dwells, and you will escape from the last disaster and be saved.
