Sacrifices of the Old Testament contain sinners’ repentance and God’s atonement. After Adam and Eve committed the first sin, God allowed Cain and Abel to offer sacrifices through which they could go to the tree of life again. Sacrifices continued through the time of Moses and changed into worship services in the New Testament times.
Without worship services we offer to God, the forgiveness of sins can never be given to us.
In all the worship services of the Old Testament, animals shed blood on behalf of sinners. However, in the New Covenant times, Jesus Christ Himself was sacrificed as a sin offering. Therefore, we must keep all the worship servicesthat Jesus established through His sacrifice, in spirit and in truth.
The fact that Jesus became a high priest means we must continue to offer worship services. The members of the Church of God keep all the worship services such as the Sabbath day and the Passover, and are going toward the forgiveness of sins and the hope for Heaven which God has promised us.
... he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high priest in the Order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 5:9–10
