Elijah alone fought against 850 false prophets; the boy David defeated the giant Goliath; Gideon’s 300 warriors fought against the 135,000 Midianite army; the Israelites suffered in the desert for 40 years, and the saints of the early Church preached the gospel while facing persecution and martyrdom. In the midst of adversity, their hearts were refined, and their faith was approved by God; in the end, they received the glory of victory.
God foresaw that His children would suffer and face hindrance from the devil. Yet, through refinement, He first led them to cultivate reverence for Him, along with faith, hope, love, and a spirit that rejects evil and pursues good, before performing miracles for them by His almighty power.
